Aerial View tectonically active range front, Grouse Creek Range, Idaho.

We can say that this mountain front is tectonically active (prone to earthquakes) because it is so straight --otherwise erosion would have enough time to wear away at the mountains to make the front of the range very irregular.

This fault is immediately north of, and along trend with, the same fault that slipped to cause the October, 1983 (M=6.9) Borah Peak Earthquake.
