Offset curb along Calaveras fault, Hollister, California. Some faults, such as this one, move by creep, a relatively steady-state movement marked only by low-level seismicity. Note the en-echelon arrangement of fractures in the asphalt. Their orientations are consistent with the right-lateral offset of the curb.
